The Watson-Watt Prize If you would like us to add a link to an event to share with others please drop us a line and we try to incorporate it Events Calendar 09 Sunday 3pm June 21st 2009 Brechin Cathedral Hall The Watson-Watt Society received a welcome boost to its funds after last Sunday's (21 June 2009) concert in Brechin Cathedral given by members of Brechin High School Orchestra. The concert, supported by an audience delighted by the range and quality of the performances, realised more than £400. The Society is seeking to raise funds to provide a memorial to Sir Robert Watson- Watt who led the team that developed the radar defence system that played a crucial part in the defence of the U.K. during World Watt II. A spokesman said that the Society was indebted to the school, staff and students for their contribution. ‘The concert illustrated once again the wealth of talent that exists in Brechin High but also the willingness of the youngsters and staff to give their time for the benefit of the community.’ Interactive History The Watson-Watt Prize Details coming soon An Interactive Journey of Radar In order to maintain the promotion of the great work achieved by Sir Robert Watson- Watt we are planning a computer based interactive journey of Radar. Our intention is to have this available for the public to view at various Exhibitions and Open days and further develop this interactive journey into a DVD which could be distributed for sale or downloadable from our website - Watch out for more details on this coming in the near future. Exhibitions = awareness The Watson-Watt Prize Another great way for the Watson-Watt Society to reach out to the public and generate continuous awareness of Sir Robert Watson-Watt is through attending or participating in various Exhibitions - This Poster is from our Exhibition in the Queen Mother Building at Dundee University in November 2008. Our plan going forward is to increase our presence at these events - watch our events calendar for future Exhibits. Flying Visit to Leuchars Committee visit to Leuchars in Fife The Watson-watt Society experienced the fast pace life of the RAF fighter squadron during our visit to RAF Leuchars on 15 July 2008. As a result of the visit we have developed a closer liaison with RAF Leuchars. The guided tour also assisted  with a clearer understanding of the roles performed at RAF Leuchars. We gained a close up insight into how the use of Radar within the service has developed over the years since its invention by Sir Robert Watson-Watt. We would like to thank Squadron Leader Blythe Crawford, Executive Officer of 111 (fighter) Squadron and the Station Commander Air Commodore Clive Bairstow for their welcome and hospitality throughout the day.
